Dr. Pen Family Overview (with Hydra Pen & BIO Pen)
Dr. Pen has continually advanced electric microneedling, offering a broad lineup for home users and professionals. Beyond the core Dr. Pen devices, the family now includes Hydra Pen for simultaneous serum delivery and BIO Pen for low-frequency microcurrent support—giving you flexible options to match different skincare goals.
Electric Microneedling vs. Derma Roller
- Safer entry: Electric microneedles move vertically to create cleaner micro-channels and reduce skin trauma.
- More precise: Adjustable depth and speed help tailor treatment to areas like the nose, eye contours, and smile lines.
- Smoother experience: Consistent motor control minimizes tugging compared with angled, manual rolling.
Derma rollers can enter the skin at an angle, which may cause larger wounds and slower recovery. Electric systems deliver steadier, more comfortable sessions.
Product Lines at a Glance
Dr. Pen (Microneedling Therapy System)
Designed for cosmetic microneedling (MTS). Creates controlled micro-channels that support skin renewal, texture refinement, and better topical absorption. Select models also support permanent makeup (PMU), but most users choose MTS-focused options for skincare goals.
Hydra Pen (Microneedling + Serum Infusion)
Combines microneedling with built-in serum delivery. During needling, skincare serum is guided toward the skin surface to improve absorption—ideal for routines emphasizing hydration, brightness, and overall radiance.
BIO Pen (Microneedling + Microcurrent)
Pairs microneedling with gentle, low-frequency microcurrent. The cosmetic microcurrent component is designed to support skin vitality and a firmer look, making it a strong choice for users focused on tone and visible elasticity.
How to Choose the Right Device
- Your goal:
Skin texture, pores, fine lines: Dr. Pen (MTS).
Hydration and glow during treatment: Hydra Pen.
Look of firmness and contour support: BIO Pen.
Need PMU as well: Choose a Dr. Pen model that supports both MTS + PMU.
- Operation style: Wireless models are convenient for home use; wired models suit long, continuous sessions in studios.
- Helpful upgrades: Anti-backflow tips, finer needles, intuitive displays, and optional bases/holders can improve hygiene, comfort, and efficiency.
Practical Use Tips
- Prep: Cleanse thoroughly. Disinfect the cartridge before each session.
- Technique: Work in small sections. Start with less sensitive areas and adjust speed/depth conservatively.
- Topicals: Use suitable, high-quality serums. Hydra Pen can streamline infusion; with Dr. Pen/BIO Pen, apply serums as directed.
- Aftercare: Moisturize and use broad-spectrum sunscreen. Avoid harsh actives until the skin settles.
- Hygiene: Cartridges are single-use. Replace with sterile, sealed tips every session.
Why Choose the Dr. Pen Family
- Proven engineering: Continuous innovation in motor control, cartridge design, and user ergonomics.
- Flexible options: From pure MTS to infusion (Hydra Pen) and microcurrent support (BIO Pen).
- Cosmetic-first design: Disposable tips, EO-sterilized cartridges (where applicable), and adjustable settings for targeted care.
Quick Recommendations
